I am so excited to share with you this week 'Readers' about a fantastic Mother & Daughter who share a love for sewing together and have turned the passion that they have into a darling bag shop on Etsy.
Carrie (daughter) told me that she actually learned to sew from her mother when she was young and has loved sewing together from that point on.  Together they sew a variety of project bags; draw string, zippered and even matching notion pouches.  Who would not love the idea of having a bag with a matching notions pouch, so clever.

Recently she has been experimenting with designing her own fabrics through Spoonflower.com and has high hopes of offering new bags with custom made fabrics.   Along side her designing and bag making she has a passion for knitting and blogging.  Her blog; along with shop updates and more, can be found HERE at her site.  She manages to do all this on top of being a stay-at-home mother with 5 kids ranging from ages 12-10 months.  Can we say "Super Mom" award here!!!

I am sure you will agree with me when you see her bags, that you just might find yourself in need of a new summer knitting bag.

Introducing the latest bag shape from Chicken Soup Designs:

Large Wide Mouth Zipper Project Bag

(Wedge Style): with detachable handle! (10" x 12" x 4.25" base)

Carry along your current knitting or accessories in style! Bag is shown packed with 4 cakes of yarn, to indicate size. This wedge-style bag comes with many features, including:

• Fabric is 100% cotton
• Fully lined with coordinating fabric, with no exposed seams and a snagless interior
• 4-ply, topstitched fabric handle with swivel lobster clip that can be attached to both the zipper, or the D-ring on the side of the bag
• Top-stitched to keep the zipper from catching in the seam
• Lightly padded to protect your contents
• Squared-off bottom so that the bag will sit on its own
• Machine washable, iron as needed
• Constructed in a smoke-free, pet-free environment
• Dimensions: Approximately 10” tall by 12” wide (at top), with a 4.25” base.

This is really the "Bag of all Bags," you could not ask for better.  The size is so perfect, small or large projects,  you will travel in style.  It has just the right amount of stiffness to protect your bags from outside elements and the removable handle is the best.

Sewn with such precision and technique, you will have this bag for a lifetime of treasured knitting.  I do have to say how much I appreciate having a designers tag on the bag.  When I knit with others and people comment on my bag, its nice to be able to share who the bag is made by so others may purchase a bag from them as well.  You could not want more from a bag than this!!

I have to say that even if you have several knitting project bags already, my recommendation is that you really must own a Chicken Soup Bag for yourself.

To entice you just a bit more (as if the pictures were not enough) Carrie is offering all of you, "My Readers" a 10% off coupon code!!!!!

Signature Needle Arts

| Monday, June 23, 2014

Happy Monday Readers!!!

The company that I have the privilege of reviewing for you today might as well be a house hold name in the knitting community.  Signature Needle Arts has a long standing, well reputable, amazing line of what I would call "elite knitting needles."  Circular, DPN's, Straights and interchangeable needles are some of the most fantastic needles you may ever get your hands on. ( I am still working on trying to get a US size 1, 40' circular into my hot little hands...lol)
However today we are not reviewing needles...can you believe it.  Signature Needle Arts actually has other items that they may not be as well known for but the quality is most defiantly the same.  I am hoping to bring to light to one of these such items that they make.

Signature Sock Blockers

"Socks dry quickly on Signature's new sock blockers. Air easily flows through your socks for optimal drying. Hang them over your shower rod and excess water drips right into the tub. Signature Sock Blockers are currently available in 2 sizes Medium (measures 8.25" from the heel to the toe) available in Amethyst Purple Large measures (9.5" from the heel to the toe) available in Emerald Green"

~Signature Needle Arts~

The same color quality materials that go into a signature needle are now brilliantly engendered into a sock blocker that will never have water damage like a wood blocker would.  The convince of having a built in hook to hang over a shower rod or a cloths line for example is genius! If you are like me and want to take the very best care with your hand knit socks, this blocker would come in so handy.  Not only would one set be nice but having a few sets would be nice when washing up a few pairs of socks.  As mentioned above, they come in two sizes that should really cover most woman's sizing.  I could see wanting a blue pair in a men's size 10-11...wink wink!!

If you have never purchased a set of sock blockers or are in need of doing some upgrading, please have a look at these today and consider getting the Cadillac of all sock blockers!!!

Review [2 of 2]

I am so very excited to have the opportunity to review and share with you all a yarn company that I have loved for a long time.  Everything from the look of the website, the history of the ranch, the organic element of the animals to the yarn and fiber its self.  If you have never heard of or used Imperial Yarn, get your PayPal account ready!

What makes this company so unique is its amazing resources and self sustainability.

"The Imperial Stock Ranch is a family owned and operated ranch located on more than 30,000 acres of Oregon’s beautiful high desert where you’ll find resident populations of elk, deer, antelope, gamebirds and fish. It is on this vast landscape that our stewardship practices — of the land, of the animals and of our family — are cultivated and the strong foundation of our business has been forged. It is also here that we produce grains, hay, grasses, cattle and sheep, allowing us to create the variety of consumer products you are familiar with."
This is just a small part of the amazing story that you really all should go and read at the website.

Imperial Yarn can be found on line and in your Local Yarn Stores.  If your yarn store does not carry this amazing fiber line, make sure that your request that they do so.  Your LYS needs to hear from you the customer as to what you want in local yarns.  You will be so glad you asked when they start to carry this stunning American wool.

Tracie Too Sport

Sport / 5 ply
395 yards /113 grams
US 4 - 3.5 mm
100% Wool
Available in 14 different colors

What I find so rustic and amazing about this 100% wool yarn is how soft it is.  Anyone who has worked with pure wool knows that it takes a great deal of prep to make it next to the skin soft.  I would have no hesitation knitting this up into a lace cowl or a beautiful men's cabled scarf. Lets not forget the stunning array of colors you can have your yarn dyed to order.  Such a personal feature knowing that when you pick you color it has to be dyed up just for you.

If you notice the shape of the tags...remind you of anything?
You guessed it, they ask that you please recycle you tag and use it for a drink coaster.  What a great idea!!!  It is even a good weighted cardboard to actually do just that.

Yes...not only do they carry amazing blends of yarn, but they have fiber as well.

The prep on the fiber is beautiful and really takes the colors amazingly.  You can see the richness and saturation as you are looking through the fiber lengths.  I could see this being spun up into a woolen spin to be plied or even to just be used as a single with its rustic nature about it.

While you are over on the site, make sure you also check out the FREE patterns that they have  for download.

Review [1 of 2]

Hello Readers I hope you all enjoyed celebrating Father's Day with your loved ones. This was a first for our little family, such a joy.

I am so excited to share with you my discovery of Fleece Cottage Yarns from the UK.  Hannah is the creator and designer behind this unique and adorable yarn company.  She has a passion for silk and if you are a silk lover, you are in for a treat!!

"I’m a bit of a silk addict and love lace knitting. I have far too many skeins and now I dye my own, the problem is only getting worse! My Fleece Cottage Yarns are mostly laceweight and sock yarns at the moment, and I love experimenting with beautiful jewel like colors and darker gothic shades. If you’re interested in a custom order, please pm me.
I’m a stay at home mum to two gorgeous children who I try and keep out of the dyepot…
I live in Fleece Cottage - it was fate!"

Sock Yarn

Fingering / 4 ply
437 yards /100 grams
75% Merino /25% Nylon

This is a fantastic all around fingering weight yarn.  I love how tremendous of a job she does with her tonal dying.  She has such a fantastic color sense and shading.  A good tonal has just the slightest variation in shades all wile staying in the same color range.  It can be very challenging to master, however Hannah has a great ability in her dying sense.

Take a look at this little bonus of a gem.  She has attached a 'Hand Made' stitch marker to each of her skeins.  Such a personal and extra touch that really separates her from others.  I love a commemorative stitch marker to remember a skein of my favorite yarn with.

Mulberry Silk

Fingering / 4 ply
219 /50 grams
100% Silk

"A delight to work with - soft handle, even twist and shimmering color. This pure silk 4ply/fingering yarn is best suited to extra special projects like scarves, shawls and fine garments." Hannah

Such a smooth touch and a radiance of shine, add color and you have a 'Special Project Skein' for sure.  I love having a skein like this on hand for those really unique or special items that you find and just need to cast on right that moment.  You will love knitting with this yarn as much as you will picking out what color you are going to purchase.  Hannah again has a great sense of color and does a great job with her yarns.
