Manic Pixie Dream Yarn

| Monday, March 31, 2014

Good afternoon Readers!!!  I hope you are getting your Monday off on the right foot, doing some kind of knitting or crafting today.  I am so excited to share with you the many colors and shades of the rainbow today.  Manic Pixie Dream Yarns (Bex) has out done her self with the best looking self striping rainbow I have ever had the chance to get my hands on.  I am pleased to tell you that she has it up in her shop TODAY for you to get your hands on and start knitting a little color into your life.

Zooey

Fingering / 4 ply
400 yards (366 meters)

US 0 - 3 or 2 - 3.25mm

80% Merino /20% Nylon

I love the idea of small single color stripes intermixed with the dark black.  It makes me think of a storm.  This was such a fun knit and to see the transitions almost every round of my knitting was so unique.  The base she uses is so soft as well, and I love the added strength of nylon to all my socks.  I have washed these socks already and am happy to share that they are the same color and had no trouble with colors bleeding at all.  Bex really does a stellar job when she set her colors!!!

I used a basic textured stitch and a short row heal to allow the yarn to do all the magic for me.  Look how sharp her color transitions are.  For those of you who have never died yarn, that is quite the labor intensive task, and she does it so seamlessly.

And if you really needed more reason to have your own pair of rainbow socks, she has a twist to offer!!!

KSC Designs

The calendar may say Spring, but I am not so sure.  However todays review makes me think that spring is on the way, so bright and cheerful.  Readers, you are going to LOVE what I have to share with you today.

Please let me introduce you to Dani Miller

"I started KSC Designs in early 2011 to combine my love of three things: sewing, knitting, and organization.  I have been knitting for many years, and when it came to organizing all of my knitting supplies, I couldn't find any pieces that suited my needs AND were fun and pretty to look at.  So I designed my own!  I soon found that my friends and fellow knitters were also looking for the same kind of thing, so I chose to open my shop.

After about 6 months of working on my shop and in a local craft store, I decided to take the plunge and work solely on KSC Designs.  As the shop has grown I have expanded my line to include more general pieces to help keep you organized, such as box bags, tote bags and various rolls.

The name KSC comes from my long held blog entitled "Knit, Stitch, Click!", which I began writing in 2004.  Initially it was a way to document my knitting and sewing projects, but it has led to so much more - friendships, a business, and an endless list of craft pieces I want to do!  You can still find me there when I am not tucked behind my sewing machine. "

This is her Large Box Bag.  The measurements are as follows:
 10"L x 5"D x 4"H
This particular bag will hold almost any project you can fit into it.

Her choice of fabric is so classy and she has so much fun with the patterns as I am sure you can see.  However cute the print is, I am also a stickler for quality fabric.  She uses a really nice cotton that you can tell will last just by the feel of the bag.  Coordinating zipper and pull tags complete the adorable look and make for such ease when trying to get in and out of your bag.

If you are like me, you have more than one project bag, (I'm not going to tell you how many I have...lol) I think she is so smart to incorporate her label right into the bag.  The label has her contact information on it so when out at knit night and a fellow friend asks you who made that great bag and how can they get one, all the info is right at your fingertips.  By the way...I hope you all share with your fellow knitters/crocheters not just what you are knitting or crocheting but what you are storing your projects in.

As if you needed more convincing to go over to KSC Designs and pick up a new bag, check out how fun the bag lining is!!!  So perfect, a pop of color in the reversible print.  I loved the chair fabric to begin with, but how fun to reach into your bag and have a different lining.  So seamlessly made and such quality, you will be wanting a new 'Spring Bag' today!!

To top it all off, Dani offers;
FREE US SHIPPING!
Free gift wrapping or note available upon request.  Such service goes along way!

Be sure to check out all the other size, shapes and styles of bags/totes she has to offer.  This is really a one stop shop when looking for a variety of bags.  Remember to "Think outside of the BAG."  These bags are not for just knitting and crafting, think of all the many uses they might have.

Quaere...distinctive hand dyed yarn

| Monday, March 17, 2014

Happy St. Patrick's Day Readers!!! I hope you all find yourself knitting with something green as to be festive.  Myself, I have my crock pot slow cooking away with corn-beef and cabbage for dinner.  That's what you eat when your husband is 1/2 Italian & 1/2 Irish.  (Not my favorite...but its one meal a year, at least that's what I tell myself)

I have a fantastic yarn review for you today!!!!!!!  I am so excited and pleased to be sharing my new passion for this amazing yarn.  Quaere Fibre  is the featured yarns today

Self Striping Sock 80/20

 Fingering / 4 ply
400 yards/100 grams
US 0 - 2 or 2 - 2.75mm

Her play on color combinations are out of this world!!  Just when I think I have decided on a new favorite color combo, then I go and see another that I just love.  I dare you to go to her shop and just pick one!!!  The base is so nice and fluffy and really gives the texture f a quality knit for socks.  You know what I mean when you hold the perfect sock yarn in your hand, you just know.

Sparkle Sock

 Fingering / 4 ply
438 yards/100 grams

75% Merino/20% Nylon/5% Other

I can not say for 100% but if I had to guess, I think the Stellina is actually GOLD!!
Again, I am so amazed with how she sees color, it is stunning.  This is a dark brown, deep purple and almost rusty gold color with hints of gold stellina.  You could not go wrong with a skein or two of this base in your stash.  I love them both!!!

Diversity & Neon Now

| Monday, March 10, 2014

I don't know about any of you Readers, but March is already in its second week, wow!  I'm enjoying the sunshine and the slowly rising temperatures that I hope will continue to clime.  Any now, I have two great new yarns for you all to get excited about.

DIVERSITY

A cool new yarn with just a bit of stretch so your project can maintain its shape and integrity.  Try in socks or the hitchhiker scarf.  Easy care, machine wash, gentle cycle and tumble dry.
Contents:
93% Acrylic, 7% Polyester  / Machine Wash & Dry
Gauge: 8 sts = 1"/US 2 needle
Yardage: 420 yards
Weight(s): Sock
Put Up: 10 x 100g ball

This yarn comes in 11 different colors.

NEON NOW

Contents:
75% Wool, 25% Nylon / Machine Wash Gentle Inside Out, Tumble Dry Low
Gauge: 7.5 sts = 1" / US 2 needle
Yardage: 436 yards
Weight(s): Sock
Put Up: 5 x 100g ball

They currently have 5 colors & any of them would be so fun for making short summer ankle socks out of.

Either of these two yarns should be considered work-horse yarn.  Easy handling for those you choose to knit for who may not know how to do much hand washing of knit ware.  I think the colors would just be fun to have for summer sock knitting.  And who does not have a pair of socks always on the needles...yep you guessed it...me!!!
