Review (2 of 2)

Queens County Yarn Company was founded in 2014, by Virginia, a perpetually overworked mom who apparently has gone completely insane and decided to start a yarn company on top of the 15 million other things she does on a daily basis, including holding down a full-time job. She lives in Astoria neighborhood of Queens, in New York City. She feels blessed to live in the borough with the weirdest addresses, stubborn adherence to its original village names from 200 years ago (hence, the Astoria thing), and the most diverse population of anywhere in the whole entire world (according to National Geographic).
The yarns she dyes for Queens County Yarn Company are inspired by the colors of various neighborhoods, landmarks, and people of this amazing borough. If you check out the shop, you’ll see the beginnings of the neighborhoods colorways, including two yarns based on landmarks in Astoria.

Virginia has such an amazing ability to see something and then replicate it on fiber.  For example, the skein featured in the review is appropriately named 'East River.'  I love how she sees buildings, bridges and nature and can bring it to life in yarn form.

Sock

Fingering / 4 ply
400 yards
US 0 - 3 or 2 - 3.25mm
75% Wool-25% Nylon

I would consider this your work horse sock yarn.  Great nylon content so that your socks will not bust open with holes and fun colors to go around.  I love to purchase yarn because of its origin or its inspiration, this yarn is no exception.  At first touch, it is not the softest yarn but after knitting up a swatch and washing it, it softened right up and will make for perfect fall socks.

You really should hop on over to her shop and pick up a skein for some of you next pair of socks.
You will love the colorways and the names as they relate to famous sites.

Queens County Yarn Co. receive a 5 Needle Review Rating!
Thank you again Virginia for sharing your yarns!!!

My mouth actually started to water when I saw the Chamoe, I might just bite in before knitting with that color. Combined with the East River it would make a great Brioche project. I love that she added the neutral grey to theother vibrant colors she dyes
