Berry Colorful Yarnings

| Monday, April 30, 2012

I am going to call this yarn the classic.  I'm excited to share with you all some must have in your stash yarn.  That 'Go To' sock yarn that every knitter must have one or two skeins of.
BCYarnings other wise known as Michelle is the master behind this sock yarn.  She is a stay at home mom, and is helped by her husband who  runs the businesses from home. Michelle learned to knit from her, then, 11 year old niece. she states; "I figure if I am going to collect yarn then I better know how to make something with it."

On with the review!

Fingering SW is the featured yarn!
Fingering / 4 ply (14 wpi)
400 yards /100 grams
US 1 - 3 or 2.25 - 3.25mm
100% Merino
She has two colorways that are shown above.  (Top) a celestial blue that is named "Glacier",
(Bottom) a dark and majestic grey named "Stone Path".
I love both of them.  They are variegated yarns that show of the beauty of changing hews that are ever so gentle but have such flair.  I love the colors that she chose.  I feel that these would be really great as a masculine color pallet for socks.  I love making my husband new knit socks, however he is very particular about colors.  He has already claimed a new pair of socks out of the Stone Path color.  (Men!)

Take a closer look!

Just so you all know, she has Hunger Game Theme Yarn!!
Thank you Michelle for letting me review your yarn!!

Plum Street Fiber Art

|
This weeks yarn review is brought to you from Plum Street Fiber Art.
Chelsea is the artist behind this fantasticly dyed yarn.  She has a group on Ravelry that can be found Here

Let's jump right into this yarn because I am so excited to show you the richness of her colors!!

This Beauty is called Jewel of the Nile
Swizzle Twist is a uniquely spun yarn with four plies that plump against each other creating an amazing cabled appearance in an incredibly strong yet soft and sproingy yarn.

100%Superwash Merino
Approximately 435 yards per 100 grams
Hand Wash, lay flat to dry

The photos are very true to the richness of this fantastic yarn.  And yes, the twist on this is unlike anything I have ever used.  I think this is going to knit up into a very dense fabric.  I love how the shades of blue and green transition from one deep color to another.
This yarn is amazingly priced at $18.00 a skein.  This is a great price when you get your hands on this incredible yarn.

This yarn would make to most drastic statement in a shawl pattern.  Really, I don't see how you could not love her colors.  Make sure you take a look at all she has to offer, you will be pleased at her variety as well.

Thank you Chelsea for letting me review your yarn!!

OinkPigments Yarn Review

| Monday, April 23, 2012

How can you say no to a logo that looks like that!!  Today I am so excited to feature Alexa who is the owner of OinkPigments.  I was so excited about the yarn that she carries and how versatile it can really be.

She carries Mini Skein Sets

And our featured yarn for this review Worsted

Her worsted weight yarn comes in a multitude of color schemes.  Really I think anything you could possible think up she has a skein for it.

Worsted / 10 ply
230 yards / 100 grams
4.0 to 6.0 sts = 1 inch
100% Merino
SUPERWASH !!!!
Priced at $16.00 (US) per skein, that is an incredible value for what you are getting.
So for all of you who are wondering what the color way is that will be featured, take a look at the summer color everyone must have: "Watermelon Rind"

I don't know about you, but this yarn in all its glory is screaming to be a monster to me.  Think of all the fun you could have with this yarn.  You know what else might knit up really great, a pair of kids mittens and a matching hat.  Take a look at how her colors play off one another.  One color complements the other and then you get that pop of contrast that makes it all come together.  Her choices in color and placement make her yarn outstanding.

Thank you Alexa for letting me review your yarn!!
