May I present to you, Lunabudknits

I happened upon this yarn at the Kentucky Sheep and Fiber Festival .
While strolling about I met Stephanie Stratton who owns Lunabudknits.  I knew we would hit it off right away not only because we share a love for knitting and fiber, but because she shares my name.

This yarn mimics the feel of a late hot August evening.  When you are driving past an open pasture that has been freshly harvested.  Out in the distance you see several rolled bails of hay just resting in the pasture as if they too were admiring the evening sunset.

The yarn is a Merino/Bamboo mix.  Perfect for contact with skin.  The bamboo has a certain softness to it that can only be experienced by touch.  Each skein is 4oz./430 yards and retails for $24.50.

The pattern that I chose to show off this yarn has minimal detail to allow the yarn to be the star of the show.  Just like with real hay or straw, you will see different color gradations through out depending on time of harvest.
I would have no hesitation recommending this yarn, "Glamy" or any of Lunabudknits yarns/fibers as they are perfectly priced for the quality you are paying for.

Thanks again Stephanie!!

Superknits you say...the name lives up to its products!

~Presentation~

As my Ravelry name insinuates, 'HotPinkSocks' I love pink socks.  What could make your day more fun than adding a bit of pink to it; or in my case a bunch of pink?  Gemma, who is the owner of superknits sent me what I can only say is the perfect pink.  From the moment I tore open the cardboard box to inhaling the scent of what I can only call fiber crack, passionately squealing about the brilliance of the pink yarn I was holding under my nose!  Attached to the skein of yarn was a simple crisp tag that read, Superknits.com.
I turned the tag over to investigate what this fiber was a blend of;
75% Superwash BFL & 25% Nylon.

I know you are all wondering what in the world this radiant color was named,
Without further delay I present to you "Magic Moo's Magenta."

I wanted to really show the color of this yarn off so I chose a simple stitch sock pattern.  I love how the stitch definition pops with this yarn.  Each 'click swoosh' of my needles with each stich seemed effortless.  In fact I noticed that my rhythm had actually picked up in speed as I enjoyed the round and round of the sock knitting.  Everything from the feel of the yarn to the evenness of the twist was a joy to work with.

~Ambiance~

~Thanks Gemma!!~

I can't say enough about this fabulous yarn, I would tell my Mother to add this sock yarn to my Christmas Stash List.  I would love to have a sock drawer full of hand knit socks using fiber from Superknits.  Gemma has priced her yarn perfectly.  This particular skein retails for £10.50, I think this is around 17.00 US.  Find your way over to Gemma's shop and pick up a skein of this fantastic yarn.  While you are there, she also sells a variety of other items for us knit-a-holics.  (Needles, Notions and other Fiber treats).

Knit, Swirl! by Sandra McIver

I have the privilege of reviewing Knit Swirl in all its knitterly glory.

~Presentation~
I was so excited to get my hands on this book as soon as it came out.  First off, it is defiantly a technique book.  I love learning new ways of adapting my current knitting skills or even just thinking about it in a different way.  Each pattern is illustrated with diagrams that give specific, step-by-step instructions towards your finished project.  I was also interested in the specificity of each step as she guides you through the process.

~Taste~
The photography that displays each of these gorgeous knitted items is off the charts.  The way she has captured each rich color in her knitted garment is paired with the complementing terrain for the finished photo.  I know as a knitter, a good pattern will inevitably draw me in with a dynamic photo.

~Ambiance~
I would recommend this book to people with a basic knowledge of knitting and for those who want to enhance the way they construct a garment!  With all of the patterns featured in this book you are sure to find one to suite your flair.  If you are like me, you will have a hard time narrowing down what pattern you are going to start on first.  Sandra McIver has set the bar quite high for her first publishing.  I can only imagine what the next book will hold for her.
